Hear Me

run through the jungle scared
sometimes that's the way it is
your broken wings keep you from flying away
the trees surround you grasping for you
you are too lost to know you are lost
can't tell if you are running in to them
or they are getting in your way
your mind is foggy or the air is thick
searching for one more breath
but disbelieving the signs
turning away the help that you might need
taking a deeper breath of the noxious fumes surrounding you
thinking that it might help

rest
if you don't take time to heal
you will never fly again
but not here, take to the hills away from this deadly wood
set your feet upon those hallow rocks
and tread upon that solemn ground
breathe deeply for you do not know when your next breath will come
do not listen to the words of others
lest they drown the voice inside

hear me
