The Kid stars Bruce Willis (Russ Duritz), Spencer Breslin (Rusty Duritz), Emily Mortimer (Amy), and Lily Tomlin (Janet). It is a cute and touching, albeit cheesy film about a man who meets his 8 year old self.
Disney weaves its magic to allow for time travel. If you suspend your disbelief, the film is fun to watch. Bruce Willis delivers a touching performance. Is it a coincidence that three of his best films (Mercury Rising, The Sixth Sense, and The Kid) cast him opposite a young child. I think he is learning something about acting from the new talent.
Lots of this movie is underdevelop. Sometimes this is to the point of making inappropriate for children. For example, the nearly forty year old Russ overdoses on medicine hoping to make his 8 year old self, whom he thinks is a hallucination, to disappear. It is never mentioned that taking excessive medication is wrong.
Besides this it provides for an enjoyable evening. In my opinion, if you can't think of anything else to watch, this one won't be waste of time.
